Thursday: Made Jim breakfast then did 1:45 seconds on the elliptical. I slowed my pace down a little bit which made it easier but 1:45 still wore me out. I worked out until my calves felt really challenged. I love my elliptical!
This afternoon I did another 1:45.
Friday
Only 2 times yesterday but 1:45 on both. I think I attacked the machine with too much gusto the first day. I'm too out of shape for gusto. I have developed a better rythm and I surprised myself by going 3 minutes this morning. I feel weak and jello-like but proud.
Did another 1:30 at strong pace this afternoon.
Saturday
4 minutes! I am shocked. And though I was breathing awfully hard, my legs weren't burning as bad as day 1. I keep being amazed at how this old body can be strenthened in such a short time. I thought the day of doing 30 minutes was months away--like close to a year. Now, I will have to re-think that.
Sunday
Only 2 minutes today. I considered not doing it at all just to have a day off. Yesterday was hard on me and I guess I'm just tired. Oh well.
Monday
Only 2:30. I found out that when I start it going too fast I can't keep up the pace--therefore the shorter time. I guess it doesn't matter too much how I start out as long as I keep doing it. I can already tell a difference when I have to get up from a low seat. I do a little better--the strength in my upper thighs pulls me up easier. I am pleased.
Tuesday
3:00 minutes this morning. Maybe I should have pushed for the 4. I watched t.v. with it, (Dancing with the Stars.) My legs feel invigorated instead of just jelly-like and I plan to do it again sometime today.
Did another two minutes before going to bed.
Wednesday
It's been a week since I started on the elliptical. I did 3:30 this morning. My thighs along the front of my legs are burning some and I was glad to get to the end.
I watched tv today as I worked out. It helped. But why I was able to do 4 minutes the other day, I don't know. But I'm proud of my 3:30 time. I worked for it and after only a week I feel stronger. Though it stays in one place, my elliptical is taking me somewhere. I know it.

I will be posting my second week on the elliptical soon! I know these times are laughable to some but maybe they will encourage someone else who has let themselves get in bad shape the way I have, to know that a few minutes a day can make a difference for them too.
